Production of hydrogen by hydrolysis is a key means of mitigating climate change by playing an important role in the elimination of harmful green house gas emissions.  By providing power system, heat and fuel services, green hydrogen can be leveraged to decarbonize vital economic sectors across the global economy. The major economic challenge facing the uptake of green hydrogen is the production costs. Applying economies of scale, access to low-cost renewable electricity, technology efficiencies and government lead financial incentives and directives will help to bring down the production costs. This course empowers attendees to acquire knowledge to develop and apply their skills to support the nascent (but rapidly growing) industry of green hydrogen production, transport, storage and use.

Sandy Petrie

An experienced energy transition consultant providing strategic and practical technical advice to advance clients’ decarbonisation and energy transition agendas. With expertise supporting the entire CCUS and H2 value chains, adept in understanding and conveying the inter-dependency of hydrogen production, renewable power provision, carbon capture, CO2 and H2 storage. Extensive global working relationships across industrial sectors, government and academia. Applying decades of valuable global oil and gas asset management technical and commercial learning to inform strategic thinking in building and supporting the nascent decarbonisation sector.

Sandy is an independent consultant petroleum engineer/geologist.

Over the last decade Sandy has developed capability in digital transformation, carbon capture and storage and renewables to support the upstream oil and gas industry and other industrial sectors as they develop decarbonisation and energy transition agendas. Prior to this Sandy gained extensive upstream oil and gas experience as staff with BP and then as a consultant.
